A chimney is 10 degrees from the top. A 100 meters closer is 20 degress, how tall is the chimney?

How do I solve this?

well, there are several ways to solve this
I would first find the distance of the hypotenuse (or the sight line from ground marker to the top of chimney from the first sighting) then getting the hieght of the chimney is just using the sine function.

you can get the hypotenuse with the Law of Sines the angles you need are just from geometry theroms

\(\displaystyle \frac{\sin{160^o}}{\gamma} = \frac{\sin{10^o}}{100m}
\rightarrow \gamma = 196.96m
\rightarrow 196.96m\ \sin{10^o} = 34.20m\)

one way of many ways of course
