Are you enclosing your code with the TEX tags?

without tags: \sqrt{\frac{x}{y}}

with tags: \(\displaystyle \sqrt{\frac{x}{y}}\)

If you click the "reply with quote" or the "go advanced" you should see a \(\displaystyle \Sigma\) on the toolbar. Click that tab. You will see appear. Type the Latex code between them. Or else, highlight the code and then click the \(\displaystyle \Sigma\)

So \(\displaystyle \sqrt{\frac{x}{y}}\) gives \(\displaystyle \sqrt{\frac{x}{y}}\)

\(\displaystyle \frac{2+sqrt{x^2+3}}{3x+2}-{x-2}\)

There's nothing to download.

To practice, use the preview function without submitting the post. The best practice is to just dive in and begin using it.
