# simple sum-of-a-series question

im having trouble giving a mathematical evaluation of series of the type

$$\displaystyle \sum{\frac{1}{n^2}}$$ from 1 to infinity ... sorry my latex is lacking

is there a formula similar to the geometric series formula.. or is there a specific way to apply to the geometric series formula?
