ABC is a Right Angle Triangle AB=3,AC=4 &BC=5 E is middle point D is altitude, find distance of DE=? In one Line........

#### DenisB

Is this a "puzzle" or homework?

do not planted your feet in midair planted in duldul....
sir you know difference between puzzle and homework
now it is right but hw explain........................

#### DenisB

Well buddy, YOU explain what you mean with "in one line"...

As is, solution is evident, since AE = 2.5

Also, it is standard that the hypotenuse be labelled AB,
short side BC and other side AC; with BC=a, AC=b and AB=c.

And since it's a puzzle, it would be more "fun" if the given
dimensions were 30,40,50 so that we have all integer sides,
i.e. ADE = 7-24-25. You would "sell" more puzzles that way

#### mathspassion

sir it is not fun there is a formula which is recently obtain.

study deep I think u will get .................

#### DenisB

Well, if you insist:

u = [(a + d) / 2]^2
v = [a(a - d) / (a + d)]^2
DE = SQRT(u - v)

With a=4 and d=1 : DE = .7

I'd like to know what the big deal is...

Also, that ONLY applies to the 3-4-5 right triangle.

#### mathspassion

it is not a matter of insist just to give somthing new to mathematcis people ok

sir it is still to long.everone can solve like that.(square and then squareroot)

why this only for 3,4&5 not for 5,12,&13

only one line if you know the formula .....

#### Archie

Learning formulae is for people that don't understand.

Mathematics is not a race. There is no credit for getting to an answer more quickly than somebody else. All that matters is that you get to an answer by following logical steps.

To start, your English is terrible: you should get someone to
edit your problems so we need not guess at what you mean:
it is only polite to do so.
Without giving a reason(s), you labelled your diagram with
sides a, a-1, a+1; quite apparent with sides 3-4-5 !
I was trying to tell you that this is the only triangle that can
be done with; seems that with a 5-12-13, that would be:
a, a-7, a+1

Anyway, this is last time I comment on your problem(s)
if you keep posting garbage; no matter who answers,
the answer will be as precise as the problem's wording!
