Simple question just need a definitive answer do the two following statements
mean the same thing?

Reflect across the x-axis.
Reflect over the a-axis.

The two mean the same if and only if the "x-axis" is the same as the "a-axis"!

But I suspect that was a typo- your question is really about the distinction between "reflect across" and "reflect over". There is no difference- they mean the same thing.

(C'mon, guys, wasn't it clear that this was a typo?)
