This is a test.
\(\displaystyle \sqrt {{a^2} + {b^2}} \)
\(\displaystyle \frac{{n!}}{{r!\left( {n - r} \right)!}}\)

Test with text.
\(\displaystyle 2 + 4 = \sqrt {36} \)

Since you opened the thread, let me point out a few things about using MathType with MHF:
  1. In MathType for Windows v6.6+, Preferences/Cut and Copy Preferences, there is a translator for "Math and Physics Help Forums". Select this translator, create the equation in MathType, and when you copy & paste it, it should be in the proper format for MHF, but it's not. See next item.
  2. Because of changes made to MHF after we published MathType 6.6, this translator no longer works in MathType for Windows versions 6.6 and 6.7. It will be corrected in MathType 6.8, but for now, the translator labeled Purplemath works, and produces code usable on MHF: \(\displaystyle r = \sqrt {{x^2} + {y^2}} \)
  3. In MathType for Macintosh (v6.7), these translators are split. There is one for MHF and one for PHF. On the Mac, the MHF translator works as advertised.

Mr.MathType,
Is there a way I can make a certain characters in color when post it in the forum from Mathtype 6.6 Program? In Mathtype I tried to make the color in red, but when I paste into the forum, the color showed black only.

Mr.MathType,
Is there a way I can make a certain characters in color when post it in the forum from Mathtype 6.6 Program? In Mathtype I tried to make the color in red, but when I paste into the forum, the color showed black only.
Here is an example:
This is code directly from MathType:
A \cap B^c = A - B

Now I edit it:
{\color{red}A \cap B^c} ={\color{blue} A - B}

to produce \(\displaystyle {\color{red}A \cap B^c} ={\color{blue} A - B}\)

Thanks Plato. That's the way to do it for now. Although it's possible to use color within MathType, the MathType output translators don't support color, so when you paste to MHF or other forums, the math will be in black. Mathlv -- and anyone else who wants color -- if this is a feature that matters to you, please let us know about it. You can write [email protected] with this or any other feature requests you have for future versions of MathType. Better yet, fill out our "Future MathType" survey.
