The budget is $118,250. You will use 25% of your budget to rent business space and pay for utilities.

Write an algebraic expression that indicates how much money will be spent on business space and utilities.

I do not need to solve it, I just have to know how to write this as an expression?

Well, it seems like a very simple problem to me, so the expression itself is going to also be very simple.

Let \(\displaystyle s\) be the variable for business space and utilities.

\(\displaystyle
s = \frac{1}{4}(118250)
\)

Hope that's what you were looking for.

The purpose of the 1/4th fraction is its equivalence to 25%.

\(\displaystyle 25\%\) is a fraction of \(\displaystyle 25/100\) or \(\displaystyle 0.25 \) (or \(\displaystyle 1/4\)). So \(\displaystyle 25\%\) of \(\displaystyle \$118250\) is:

\(\displaystyle 0.25 \times 118250\) dollars
