I have the problem
For the function \(\displaystyle f(x) = x^2+3x+1 \) find f(x+h)

Is the answer \(\displaystyle x(x+3+(1/x))\) ?

I don't really see where h comes from.
Thanks.

If \(\displaystyle f(x)=x^2+3x+1\) then
\(\displaystyle f(x+h)=(x+h)^2+3(x+h)+1=x^2+2xh+h^2+3x+3h+1\).
