1. Solve the equation for (theta) if
0deg <or= (theta) <or= 360deg

5sin^2(theta) - 3sin(theta) = 2

Give the answer in degrees. If rounding is necessary, round to the nearest tenth of a degree.

I dont even know were to begin on this, any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

I will get some extra credit if I can get the solution to this problem in the next 3 hours, I am a Computer Science major and my math skills are weak. This would really help me out and I would owe you a big one to anyone with a answer~Thanks again

Hi ozweego5,

Try factoring.

$5\sin^2 \theta-3\sin \theta -2=0$

$(5\sin \theta+2)(\sin \theta-1)=0$

$5\sin \theta+2=0 \ \ or \ \ \sin \theta -1=0$

Can you finsh?

3. ok I will see what I can come up with and give you my answer in a couple mins......THANK YOU

would I just solve algebraically? and say
Sin= -2/5 or Sin= 1

???????

If this question counts towards your final grade then it is not appropriate for MHF to help you with it. Especially since it's for extra credit ....
