    trigonometry :extended section

    Angles of elevation and depression


    X and Y are two towns. If the horizontal distance
    between them is 10 km and the angle of depression of Y
    from X is 7ْ calculate:

    i) the shortest distance between the two towns ,
    ii) the vertical height between the towns.




    anyone who can solve these problem
    and explain it

    Hi

    This is what I understood from the data


    If it is right then the shortest distance between X and Y is 10/cos(7)

    So model it as a triangle, and go from there?
