    trig equality - stick

    \frac{(\sqrt{5}tan \theta)^2*\sqrt{5}sec^2 \theta}{\sqrt{5 +5tan^2\theta}}

    is supposed to equal 5tan^2\theta

    it's the part in the middle that's screwing me

    did you post the numerator correctly?

    here's what can be done with the denominator ...

    \sqrt{5 + 5\tan^2{\theta}}<br />

    \sqrt{5(1 + \tan^2{\theta})}<br />

    \sqrt{5\sec^2{\theta}}
