    Do you know how to solve $\displaystyle y^2 = -y + 3$ ?

    $\displaystyle \tan^2\theta+\tan\theta-3=0$

    Let $\displaystyle \tan\theta=x$ , thus $\displaystyle x^2+x-3=0$'

    Using the quadratic formula ,

    $\displaystyle x=\frac{-1+\sqrt{13}}{2}$

    or $\displaystyle x=\frac{-1-\sqrt{13}}{2}$

    Replace x with $\displaystyle \tan\theta$ , then solve for $\displaystyle \theta$
