    Question Trig navigation problems

    A pilot takes off from city C to fly to city F 1400 m away. After flying 360 m, he discovers that he has been traveling 7 degrees 50 minutes off the course. At this point, how far from the city F is he?

    law of cosines ...

    d = \sqrt{360^2 + 1400^2 - 2(360)(1400)\cos(7^{\circ} \, 50')}
