Bearings Problem - cannot solve it!
Plane A flies a distance of 220 miles in the direction N20(degrees)E.
Plane B departs from the same airport and flies a distance of 365 miles in the direction S55(degrees)W.

Calculate the distance between the two planes.

Any help would be much appreciated!!!

You need to determine the co-ordinates of the planes.

Draw a picture, and then create two right angled triangles. Using these triangles, you can use the RAT trigonometric ratios to determine how far North/South and East/West from the origin they are.

Then use the distance formula (Pythagoras) to determine how far away they are from each other.
