I think you missed typed your question.

You mean this $\displaystyle \frac{(1+(1-tan^2(x))}{(1+(tan^2(x))} = cos^2(x)$

right?

As per your question, use this formula $\displaystyle 1 + tan^2x = sec^2x$and this formula $\displaystyle cos^2x = 1- sin^2x$ - Nov 2nd 2008, 08:41 PMssmh

As Truthbetold noticed already (it was apparent before he edited his post), the question is wrong. The expressions you have entered do not equal each other.
