    problem solving, intro to circular functions.

    If a merry go round makes one revolution every 15 seconds, how far from the center does a person have to stand in order to travel at a linear speed of 5m/second.

    Let w=angular velocity
    v=linear velocity
    r=radius of circle
    1 revolution=2pi radian
    therfor
    w=2pi/15 rad/s
    NOTE:v=wr
    r=v/w
    since v=5m/s
    therfor r=(5X15)/2pi
    r=(75x7)/(2x22)=11.93=12m
    hence the person will have to stand at a distance of 12m(approx) from the centre
