    Overlapping Triangles. Trick Question?

    This is on my homework sheet. Still can't figure it out :S... Help?

    Find L-D to 5 Decimal Places:

    Looking at the bottom triangle, you can see that:

    \cos 50^{\circ} = \frac{\text{LD}}{\text{LR}} = \frac{\text{LD}}{80 \text{ cm}}

    Assuming you can use a calculator, then: \text{LD} = 80 \text{ cm} \times \cos 50^{\circ}
