$\sin x=\frac{\mbox{opposite}}{\mbox{hypotenuse}}=\frac{ 5}{8}$
Therefore,
$x=\sin^{-1}(5/8)\approx 38.9^o$

$\tan 40^o=\frac{\mbox{opposite}}{\mbox{adjacent}}=\frac {PQ}{5}$
Thus, solve for PQ, by mutiplying by five both sides,
$PQ=5\tan 40^o=\approx 4.2$

$\cos y=\frac{\mbox{adjacent}}{\mbox{hypotenuse}}=\frac{ 8}{13}$
Therefore,
$y=\cos^{-1} (8/13)\approx 52.0^o$
