Math Help - TRIG question

    TRIG question

    Hi all,

    i was struggling to solve this equation, and would appreciate any help u guyz could offer.

    cos(400/p)=1-(143/p)

    there arent any trig identities that i can use, that weve learnt. its really annoying me.

    As it stands there is no solution. See the graph below. (Even if there was a solution there is no way to solve this equation exactly.)

    ok, thanks dan

    i think i'll have a word with my lecturer. she states a answer of 554, which when subtituted in gives doesnt work,
