    trigonometry-radian measure

    The face of a town hall clock carries a design of concentric circles. The inner circle has radius 0.5 m and the outer circle has radius 1m, which is also the length of the minute hand. The region between the circles is shaded.

    Find the area of the shaded region swept out by the minute hand in ten minutes.

    (Pi must be left in the answer)

    I have tried this question a few times but keep getting the wrong answer. Hel would be appreciated. Thanks

    The area of the large circle is {\pi}(1)^{2}

    The area of the small circle is {\pi}(\frac{1}{2})^{2}

    Subtract the two to find the area of the shaded portion. Then, take 1/6 of that to find the said area. That's because 10 minutes is 1/6th of an hour.
