# Thread: Exact value of s in a given interval

1. ## Exact value of s in a given interval

Find the exact value of s in the given interval that has the given circular function value.

tan s = sqrt3
[pi,3pi/2]

2. ## Re: Exact value of s in a given interval

$\arctan(\sqrt{3}) = \dfrac{\pi}{3}$

$s\in \left[\pi, \dfrac{3\pi}{2}\right] \implies s = \pi + \arctan(\sqrt{3}) = \dfrac{4\pi}{3}$

3. ## Re: Exact value of s in a given interval

can you EILI5? I'm trying to teach myself since I've gotten so far behind so any simple explanation you might be able to offer would be greatly appreciated...

5. ## Re: Exact value of s in a given interval

LOL explain it like I'm five.

Kind of difficult to explain inverse trig functions to a five year old ... recommend you look for videos like this one that explain it better than I could do in this venue.
