# Thread: Transpositioning techniques to solve equations and Formula

1. ## Transpositioning techniques to solve equations and Formula

1. calculate the area of the triangular fields, and the length of perimeter fencing required to secure the site. AB= 20m, Angle ABC= 60 degrees, Angle ACB= 20 degrees and angle BCD= 60 degrees.

2. The width of a river at a certain section is 60m. Soundings of the depth of the river taken at this section are recorded as follows

 DIstance from left bank (m) 0 5 10 15 20 25 30 35 40 45 50 55 60 Sounding Depth (m) 4 8 9 19 30 35 30 24 20 16 10 8 0

Plot the above information, estimate the cross sectional are of the river at this section in m^2, If the volume of water flowing past this point per per second is 10,000m^3, calculate the spped, in m/s, at which the river is flowing. Hint, Volume of flow per second = cross-sectional area x velocity of flow

3. WCB of road AB= 42 degrees, WCB of road BC= 152 degrees. Radius of curvature joining 2 lines is 120m

calculate

a) The length of the tangent AB and BC
b) The length of chord AC
c) The length of curve AC
d) The angle of deflection
e) The angle of deviation

Hey par1996.

Hi thanks for the reply chiro, I'm currently in college at the moment in England so I can't send my notes as they are all paper based

You could scan your notes and post them as a picture, type out what you have done here, type it out using Equation Editor in Word, or learn some LaTeX so that you can typeset your equations using the site's inbuilt LaTeX compiler.

Hi I could do that however i don't have a scanner. I just need some help from helpful members on this website

The point is that we don't know how to help you if we have no idea what you are able to do.

7. ## Re: Transpositioning techniques to solve equations and Formula

Hi Dan, I understand it, however I don't know what function I need to get the answer.

8. ## Re: Transpositioning techniques to solve equations and Formula

In the first problem,
calculate the area of the triangular fields, and the length of perimeter fencing required to secure the site. AB= 20m, Angle ABC= 60 degrees, Angle ACB= 20 degrees and angle BCD= 60 degrees.
The three angles add to 60+ 20+ 60= 140 degrees. The angles in a triangle must add to 180 degrees.

9. ## Re: Transpositioning techniques to solve equations and Formula

Thanks HallsofIvy, I forget to say that there are 3 smaller triangles inside the large triangle, I would upload the picture however every time I try to it just doesn't seem to upload

10. ## Re: Transpositioning techniques to solve equations and Formula

I've attached some photos to explain the questions a lot better

For the first problem see: The Pythagorean Theorem
