Thread: Help with a bearing problem.

A pegasus flies on a bearing of 125 degrees for 14 miles and then 8 miles on a bearing of 036 degrees. what is the distance from the pegasus to the starting point? Please help me figure out how to solve this problem. Thanks.

the pegasus makes a turn of 89 degrees, which happens to be an exterior angle of a triangle formed the two given bearings, their respective distances, and the third side from the start to ending position ... the law of cosines will help find what's being asked.
