Math Help - the graph of tangent

    the graph of tangent

    as far as i understand sine is like a wave going up to 90 degrees and then going down to -90 degrees and cosine is a similar idea but the tangent graph seems so unrelated in the way it is drawn can someone help me understand the tangent graph?

    Hint: \displaystyle \begin{align*} \tan{x} = \frac{\sin{x}}{\cos{x}} \end{align*}. What happens when \displaystyle \begin{align*} \cos{x} \end{align*} gets very small? The number gets very big.
