Thread: Trig Problem from my Pre-Calc Homework

Let ABC be a triangle with standard notation. Suppose a = 5, b = 6, and C = 26˚. Evaluate the remaining sides and/or angles of the triangle, namely A, B, and c. Perform exact calculations and round only final answers.

Round the answers to four decimal places.

Homework question. My last one for the week. Thanks =)

start with the law of cosines to get side c, then then the law of sines to get either angle A or B ... then you can find angle C

I got c, and plugged the numbers into the law of sin for A:

[sin(A)/5]=[sin(26)/2.6593]
getting the answer: 55.5095

Yet the answer apparently isn't right

don't round until the very last ... I get angle A = 55.5069
