Thread: Trig Function Transformation

Hi Everyone, having a little bit of trouble and have a question. I'm supposed to state the amplitude, period, and phase shift of this function.

f(x)= 3sin2(x-pi/4)-1

My question is can I move the 2 into the equation without change to be

3sin[2(x-pi/4)]-1

Something keeps telling me the 2 should be 1/2 and I keep confusing myself. Any clarification would be great.
