Use: SOH CAH TOA to find out the correct trig ratio. Spoiler: $\displaystyle \tan(42) = \dfrac{3x+3}{4x}$ Note that $\displaystyle tan(42) \approx 1$ so you'd expect those two sides to be roughly equal
x = 5. You are the best!
Hi there, tan 42 = 3x + 3/4x 4x tan 42 = 3x + 3 4x(0.9) = 3x + 3 3.6x = 3x + 3 3.6x - 3x = 3 0.6x = 3 x = 3/0.6 x = 5. Hope this helps. Cromlix
