1. ## Help with this???

Does anyone know:- how to make x the subject of the formula below

4000=0.433arctan(0.544x/1-0.25x)

Any assistance would be appreciated.

1)Divide by .433 both sides.
2)Take the tangent of both sides.
3)You are left with $\frac{.544x}{1-.25x}=N$ where N is the result after 1&2.
4)Thus, $.544x=N-.25xN$
$.544x+.25xN=N$
$x(.544+.25N)=N$
$x=\frac{N}{.25N+.544}$

When you say tangent of both sides, confirm the following below?
tan(4000/.433)=tan[arctan(.544x/1-.25x)]
where N = 4000/.433
therefore
tan n = .544x/1-.25x

4. Yes that is how you do it
