    adding vectors

Calculate the resultant vectors for the following. Solve using scale when appropriate.

    5a + (-2a) if a is 22 kilometres north?
    5x 22 +(-2x22) = 110 - 44 ??
    how do I represent them?

a is 22 km north means it can be represented by a = <0,22> or does your text have a weird way of saying that?

I was talking about the direction.

when you represent the vectors, +(-2a) is going to point towards south?
