    triagular lot

    the sides of triangular lot are 130m, 180m, 190m. the lot is to be divided by a line bisecting the largest side and drawn from the opposite vertex. find the length of the line

    use law of cosines

    start by using the law of cosines to find the values of the three angles of the triangle ...

    \displaystyle \cos{A} = \frac{b^2+c^2-a^2}{2bc}


    then use the law of cosines again to find the length of the dividing line.

    a = \sqrt{b^2+c^2 - 2bc \cos{A}}
