I can't figure these two questions out, please enlighten me

1. 1+ cot^2x = csc^x


2. (1+tan^2x)(1-cos^2x) = tan^2x

Write them out as sines and cosines.

1+cos^2 x / sin^2 x = 1/sin^2 x

Add fractions,

(sin^2 x + cos^2 x)/sin^2 x = 1/sin^2 x

Which is true because,

sin^2 x + cos^2 x = 1

By Pythagorean Identity.
