Thread: Area of a triangle/angles

In triangle ABC, b=4cm, a=9cm and the area of the triangle is 14cm^2. Find the size of angle A...

I believe it's a relatively easy question but I have checked and rechecked my answer and end up as undefined because I get arcsin(>1) if that makes sense.
I have used the relevant sin/cosine rules to work out C & c so that I can put it into the area formula but I believe something has gone wrong. It's really getting to me.

how did you find any of the angles of this triangle?and where does the area of triangle come into use? i just tried solving your question,is it a right angle triangle?

Okay so i solved it and got the same problem.I'm pretty sure the values are misprinted or wrong.

Thanks for trying! In a weird roundabout way, I'm glad you can't do it. The thing is, I actually thought it was a good question because it incorporated a few different techniques. Well - it would have been had it bloody worked!
