# Thread: Area of a triangle/angles

1. ## Area of a triangle/angles

In triangle ABC, b=4cm, a=9cm and the area of the triangle is 14cm^2. Find the size of angle A...

I believe it's a relatively easy question but I have checked and rechecked my answer and end up as undefined because I get arcsin(>1) if that makes sense.
I have used the relevant sin/cosine rules to work out C & c so that I can put it into the area formula but I believe something has gone wrong. It's really getting to me.

Thanks alot!

2. how did you find any of the angles of this triangle?and where does the area of triangle come into use? i just tried solving your question,is it a right angle triangle?

3. Okay so i solved it and got the same problem.I'm pretty sure the values are misprinted or wrong.

4. Thanks for trying! In a weird roundabout way, I'm glad you can't do it. The thing is, I actually thought it was a good question because it incorporated a few different techniques. Well - it would have been had it bloody worked!
