Sine Law problem
Just wanted someone to check my answers for this:
Two buildings of equal height are 300 meters apart. An observer on the street between the buildings measures the angles of elevation to the tops of the buildings as α = 30 degrees and β = 45 degrees, respectively.
a) Draw a labeled diagram depicting the above information.
b) How high are the buildings
b I got sin 30/300 = sin 45/b = 1/2/300 = sqrt(2)/2 which is 1/300sqrt(2)? anyone confirm?
I think your diagram is incorrect.
I have attached what i believe is the correct diagram.
Yep, it was wrong, so then
the bottom we can call, y and x.
so ytan45 = xtan30
y+x = 300
tan45 = 1, tan 30 = sqrt(3)/3
y = xsqrt(3)/3??
where do I go from here
