# Thread: Angular Velocity of Pulleys

1. ## Angular Velocity of Pulleys

Two pulleys are connected by a belt. The larger pulley has a radius of 15 cm and the smaller pulley has a radius of 8 cm. The larger pulley rotates 25 times in 36 seconds. Find the angular velocity of each pulley in radians per second.

for the larger one i put 50π radians/36 seconds = 25π/18 radians per second
how do i calculate the angular velocity of the smaller pulley?

2. Since the belt is continuous, the linear velocity of the belt on both the pulleys is the same.
But v = rω.
So r1ω1 = r2ω2.

ω is the angular velocity and is equal to 2*π*n, where n is the number of rotation per second
