simplifying trigonometry
Hi all,

I am having some trouble simplifying a term, I have attached an image. How do you get from the first line to the second. If there are any rules please point them out. Thank you.

In a rush, don't really have time to explain the rules, hopefully you can follow from my working out. if not, i will explain later--or someone else will

. . . . . . . . . . . . . .1
We have: . -------------------
. . . . . . . . . . .(1 + tan x)²
. . . . . . . . 1 + -------------
. . . . . . . . . . .(1 - tan x)²

Multiply top and bottom by (1 - tan x)²

. . . (1 - tan x)² . . . . . . . 1 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . (1 - tan x)²
. . . -------------- · -------------------- . = . --------------------------------
. . . (1 - tan x)² . . . . .(1 + tan x)² . . . . (1 - tan x)² + (1 + tan x)²
. . . . . . . . . . . . . 1 + -----------
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . (1 - tan x)²
