    nid help in some world problems..

    1.a Force 217lb is acting N2220'E at a point and another is acting N3630'W at the same point.What is their resultant if it is acting N1910'W?

    2. The bearing of a lighthouse from a ship, 9km from it is N17E. The ship sails due west and stops. If the bearing now of the lighthouse from the ship is N70E, how far has the ship sailed?

    If I interpret correctly, we have the following diagram.

    We can use the law of sines to find x.

    \frac{sin(20)}{9}=\frac{sin(53)}{x}

    Solve for x.
