# Thread: 2 Questions I cannot Solve

1. ## 2 Questions I cannot Solve

1st question: in an isosceles triangle each of the equal sides is 10m and a base is 16m. Find the vertex angle accurate to the nearest minute. choices are: A. 106 dg 16', B. 73 dg 44', C. 53 dg 8', D. 36 dg 52' (dg means degrees)

2nd question is: if cot A=1.96000 and the acute angle A has to be determined, which one of the following expressions will give the seconds of the angle? Coices are: A. -0.01159 over -0.00806 x 60", B. 0.00806 over 0.01159 x 60", C. -0.00120 over -0.00141 x 60", D. neg 0.00141 over 0.00120 x 60"

Any help with either or both would be greatly appreciated, thanks

I take it by "vertex angle" you mean the angle in between the two equal sides.

Use the cosine rule.

$c^2 = a^2 + b^2 - 2ab\cos{C}$.

Solve for $C$.
