    HELP_homewok

    1:how long is the diagnol of a square with the side of 10 metres?




    2:a ship from a port to a lighthouse steams 8km east and 6km north. how far is the lighthouse from the port?

    draw the square. sketch in the diagonal. use Pythagoras.

    1. think about what happens when you draw a diagonal across a square, you get two triangles, use pythagoras to find the diagonal if you know that two sides of that triangle are 10

    2. now its the same again, if you draw what it tells you, you get a triangle one side is 8 and one is 6, now use pythagoras


    remember your trying to find the hypotenuse for each one
