    triangles

    A radiologists uses a gamma ray to treat a tumor that is 3.2cm beneth the skin.The ray is directed into the skin at a 48degree angle. How far does the ray travel before it hits the tumor?

    I'd say that the side opposite the 48^\circ angle is 3.2cm...

    Cos(48^{\circ}) = \frac{3.2}{r}

    r = \frac{3.2}{Cos(48^{\circ})}

    r = 4.78
