HELP! regression equations
hi i am doing a degree in fisheries management and aquaculture and have produced a graph using microsoft excel comparing the length and weight of fish.
ive added a trendline and used this to produce this regression equation! i dont know how to use this equation and im not very mathmatically minded(Angry)! can any1 help me??(Clapping)
sorry if this is in the wrong section of the forum!!
y=0.0344x2.9756
r2=0.9822

This probably should be posted in the Advanced Statistics sub forum, maybe a mod will move it.

What values for length do you want to find? What data do you already have? What units for weight and length are you using?

For example if you want to know the weight of a fish length 'a' then simply use your equation

$y=0.0344x+2.9756$

sub value 'a' or whatever you like into x.

$y=0.0344\times a+2.9756$

This will give you the weight. A better way of describing the equation in your report maybe

$W=0.0344\times L+2.9756$ where W = weight and L = Length
