hi, i need some help(test of means and proportions)
alright here is the question,
Beer shelf live is a problem for brewers and distributors, because when beer is stored at room temperature, its flavor deteriorates. When the average furfuryl ether content reaches 6 ug per liter, a typical consumer begins to taste an unpleasant chemical flavor. At alpha = .05, would the following sample of 12 randomly chosen bottles stored for a month convince you that the mean furfuryl ether content exceeded the taste threshold? What is the p-value?
OK, now when i put this into megastat with the alternative set to (greater then)and a confidence interval of 95% and i get
6.00000 hypothesized value
6.72833 mean mg per liter
1.07771 std. dev.
0.31111 std. error
.0195 p-value (one-tailed, upper)
can someone help me to solve the question about the threshold, i am confused about the alpha at .05 part, should i make the confidence interval .05 maybe? i don't know help me out
thanks for your help in advance you guys are great
