1. ## random character selection

A password consisting of 2 characters is chosen. The password is randomly chosen by selecting a letter of the alphabet for the first character and a digit (0-9) for the second character. What is the probability the password is L7? I am at a complete loss for how to get started on this, I'm not sure why I can't remember but my mind is totally blank, can someone please explain to me what to do to get myself started on this? Thank you.

How many ways can you pick one letter of the alphabet 26

How many ways can you pick one digit in (0-9) 10

So there are $26 \cdot 10=260$ possible passwords.

Since there is only one password L7 the probability is

$P(L7)=\frac{1}{260}$
