    median problem

    The accompanying table represents the number of cell phone minutes
    used for one week by 23 users.

    Number of
    Minutes 7180 6170 5160 4150 3140


    Number of
    Users 10 7 2 3 1

    Which interval contains the median?

    You have to write down the cummulative frequency ..

    Then apply the median formula .

    Since there are 23 observations, the median is the 12th largest, which is the same as the 12th smallest. That observation has 11 observations that are smaller and 11 that are larger. So go find your 12th order statistic.
