The computations in this problem on a recent Praxis II exam appear simple however I am not completely sure what they are asking for.

A method of estimation temperature Fahrenheit is to double the Celsius temperature and add 30.

Estimated = 2C + 30
Actual = 1.8C + 32

On two separate days you are given the temperature Celsius. What is the maximum error allowed in the estimation of the Fahrenheit temperature versus the actual Fahrenheit temperature?

Day 1 -20
Est 2(-20) + 30 = -10
Act 1.8(-20) + 32 = -4
Variance = 6

Day 2 30
Est 2(30) + 30 = 90
Act 1.8(30) + 32 = 86
Variance = 4
