    probability problem

    The probability that a child will get A , B , C and D grades is 0.4,0.35,0.15,0.10 . Find the odds in favour of a child receiving at most C grade .

    What does 'odds in favour' mean ?

    What does 'odds in favour' mean ?
    The odds in favour of an event E occuring is defined as the ratio Pr(E) : Pr(E').

    In your case the event is getting at most a C grade. The odds in favour of this event are 0.25 : 0.75, that is, 1 : 3.
