    Probability qstn

A company has determined that 17% of al memory cards they produce are defective. Joe buys 5 memory cards from this company.Create a probability distribution in which the discrete random variable X represents the number of defective memory cards Joe received out of the 5 he bought.
P.S.How do I know if it's a binomial or hepergeometric distribution and what's the difference between those 2?
    Thanks in advance.

Start by looking at the criteria that must be met for a binomial distribution to be valid. In particular, does p (the probability of success in a single trial) change or stay the same ....?
