A police department needs new tires for its patrol cars. the probabilities that it will be any brands A,B,C or D are 0.24, 0.18, 0.28 & 0.30 resply. find the probability that it will be any of the brands A or C

Hi Zandra,

You can use the following to figure it out:
$Pr(A \text{ or } B)=Pr(A)+Pr(B)-Pr(A \text{ and } B)$

0.24 + 0.28 = ....

Just add the probablility of C and A

That is 0.28+0.24
