Thread: Uniform probability distribution

Okay it says there are 2200 trout in a lake and they are distributed uniformly from 8 - 10 inches and to sketch a uniform probability distribution. I have no idea how, also it says find the probability that i catch one that is between 8.3 to 9.4 inches, if anyone could help with any part of this i'd greatly appreciate it.

Do you know what a uniform distribution looks like?

The pdf is equal to 1/2 over [8, 10] and is zero elsewhere.

The required probability is the area under the pdf over [8.3, 9.4]. I get (1/2)(1.1) = 0.55.

Then you should make it your business to read something like this

Do you have a textbook or class notes?

Yeah, I have only one other sketch of this for notes. I can't relate the two how ever, like i'm having problems teaching my self this so i can apply it to this current problem
