Thread: Example of a discrete random variable

Hi,

Im after an example of a discrete variable that doesnt count numbers.

I thought gender would be an ok answer .. but the lecturer said that the number of heads when tossing a coin counts numbers, and so I'm gussing my answer would too.

How about opening a book and observing the page number?

Looks OK to me. The random variable is the observed page number.
