Morse code consists of a succession of dots and dashes. The symbols formed by the code may consist of one, two, three or four dots or dashes. How many different symbols may be represented by this code?

Ok, first of all i dont really get this Question. What does it mean by symbols formed? Could some1 please explain thanks.

Number of one symbol codes: 2

Number of two symbol codes: (2)(2) = 4

Number of three symbol codes: (2)(2)(2) = 8

Number of four symbol codes: 2^4 = 16

Total = 30
